FAQ

  • How do I reach you?
Sending me an email is the easiest way to set up initial contact. From there we can schedule a time to talk by phone. My email is DrBenjaminLeibowitz@gmail.com and phone number is ‪973 440 9788‬.
  • How long is a typical therapy session?
    50 Minutes
  • How long does psychological evaluation take?
For a comprehensive psychological evaluation, there are multiple components that contribute to rich data, clear understanding of diagnostics, and tailored interventions. Formal time spent with the client in testing usually spans over 2-3 sessions, each 2 - 2.5 hours in length. Major stakeholders (e.g. parents, teachers, therapists, trainers etc.) are often contacted to gather additional layers of information. A detailed report with tailored interventions is produced and all results are reviewed together with Dr Leibowitz to ensure complete understanding. Less comprehensive evaluations take less time, each depending on the needs of the individual.
  • Do you take insurance?
I am an "out of network" provider. I do not work with any insurance companies. If your insurance company allows for out of network benefits, I will provide you with a monthly receipt for you to submit to your insurance company for partial reimbursement.
  • What are your areas of specialty?
I am fortunate to have considerable experience in multiple areas. I conduct neuropsychological evaluations, work with anxiety, OCD, depression, suicidal ideation, ADHD, parental behavior management, low self-esteem, and often work with college students who need assistance navigating life.
  • Do you meet with clients virtually?
I am PsyPact certified allowing for teletherapy across all participating states. I have two offices in New Jersey, one in Bergen County and the other in Union County. Virtual sessions are always possible, however in person sessions are typically preferred when possible.
  • Do insurance companies often reimburse?
In my experience, most patients that have out of network mental health coverage are reimbursed for significant portions of the associated cost, often ranging from 50 to 100% coverage. I advise clients to call individual insurance providers for preapprovals to determine coverage in advance of meeting. In preparation for this call, I provide all necessary codes including license #, NPI#, CPT#, and EIN# to expedite the process. Many clients are pleasantly surprised with coverage.
  • Do you accept HSA cards?
All major credit cards including credit, debit, HSA and FSA cards are accepted. If preferred you can pay by zelle quickpay or check as well.
