Clinical Approach

A strong therapeutic relationship is critical to developing a trusting, meaningful, and gainful therapeutic experience. Dr. Leibowitz is warm, caring, and easy to relate to. He integrates an array of evidenced-based approaches to best meet the specific goals and needs of each individual and family, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology, Behavioral Psychology, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. He is strength-focused, and works collaboratively with individuals and their families to develop strategies to identify and overcome challenges, and empower a mindset of optimism and confidence. 

Education and Training Experience

Dr. Benjy Leibowitz graduated from Yeshiva University with his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, followed by a Master’s in education and Rabbinic Ordination from Yeshiva University graduate programs. Dr. Leibowitz attended Rutgers University’s Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology where he received both a Master's and a Doctorate degree in School Psychology with a CCAFP concentration (Clinical Child, Adolescent, Family, and Pediatric). He has worked in a multitude of settings including private and public school settings, out-patient clinics, and private practice, providing him with strong clinical skills and a rich background knowledge of school systems and their educational support infrastructures. Dr. Leibowitz is a licensed clinical psychologist and is PsyPact (Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact) certified. He meets for in-person sessions in both his Union and Bergen County Offices, and he meets virtually with clients in PsyPact compliant states.
